ABOUT BIKE MS

Cost: The registration schedule for Bike MS: PGA TOUR Cycle to the Shore is as follows:
Thru March 10th - $45
March 11th - June 23rd - $55
June 24th - September 14th - $65
September 15th - Day of Event Registration - $75
                 

In addition, each cyclist must fundraise a minimum of $200 (in addition to the registration fee) before check-in to the ride.

Weather: We ride rain or shine. However, if a bad storm comes, we will wait it out. If the storm becomes intense, a SAG (Support and Gear) vehicle to asisst cyclists to the finish line.

What if I'm not a professional cyclist?: Bike MS is for cyclists of all ages (minimum age: 12) and abilities. It is NOT a race! Local bike shops and teams hold training rides several months before the tour to help you get in shape. 

What kind of road support is provided? We provide rest stops every 10-15 miles with refreshments, SAG (safety and gear vehicles), trained medical staff, and bicycle repair vans.

What is SAG? Safety and Gear Vehicles will be on the route all day to pick up weary or injured cyclists. SAG will take you to the closest rest stop. SAG WILL NOT TAKE YOU DIRECTLY TO THE FINISH LINE. 

What type of bike do I have to have? Any type of road or hybrid bike is fine. "Slick" tires are highly recommended. Contact your local BikeMS Bike Shop for professional advice.

How much do I have to pledge?  The minimum pledge is $200, but there is no limit. Click here for Fundraising Tips. 

How long is the Ride?   Cyclists have a choice of three routes, 150 miles, 150 kilometers or a One Way, One Day option - 86 miles (A shuttle back is available for you and your bike . The cut off to secure a shuttle seat is September 5th. You may select the shuttle option upon registration). If you're up for a real challenge, choose the Century option (more than 100 miles) on Day 1. 

What if I want to just register the day of the ride?If you "walk up" on September 20th, you will be required to pay a $75 registration fee PLUS the minimum $200 pledge to check-in.

What about my car at the start line? We provide plenty of secure overnight parking. 

When will I get a copy of the route? Because of DOT roadwork and other unforeseen forces, the route is finalized just a few weeks out from the tour. You may view the route map and cue sheets on the Event Details page of the Bike MS website. Cue sheets will be available at the Start of Day 1 near the Customer Service Tent. 

When will I get my rider number and luggage tags? Your luggage tag will be given to you upon check-in. You will also receive your rider number, bike number, wristband and cyclists bag at the check-in of your choice. EACH CYCLIST MUST RAISE A MINIMUM OF $200 (IN ADDITION TO THEIR REGISTRATION FEE) BEFORE CHECK-IN TO PARTICIPATE IN BIKE MS. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

What meals are provided?Meals are provided for Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner to Sunday lunch. Rest stops are fully stocked with healthy snacks to energize you on the route.

Do I have to wear a helmet?Yes. No exceptions.

Do I have to carry my luggage on my bike? No! Our wonderful volunteers will drive one bag per cyclist in 2 large semi-trucks to Daytona. Just make sure you attach your luggage tag, searching through 2,000 bags is no fun! 

Can my family ride along the route with me in their car? No! Only authorize Bike MS vehicles are allowed on the route. This is for your safety! Family and friends meet you at the finish line at the Hilton Daytona Beach on Day 1 or the PGA TOUR Headquarters finish line on Day 2.

Where do I stay in Daytona?Accommodations are the responsibility of the individual cyclist. Our host hotel is the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Front Resort. Be sure to tell the hotel that you are a cyclist with Bike MS. Click here to make direct accommodations online. Reservations will be charged 30 days in prior to your stay.

What about my bike when I get to Daytona? Overnight security monitors bike racks set up at the finish line at the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Front Resorts. 

Can my friends and family eat with me? Wristbands are $20 for the whole weekend or $5 per a meal. Kids 12 and under eat free. Wristbands must be worn all weekend. NO EXCEPTIONS. You can purchase them at Check-In's or at the Customer Service Tent at Bike MS.

Will there be team photos? Photos are a first come, first serve basis. Once your entire team is together, you may enter the line for a Team Photo. Photos start at 6am.  

Are massages available? Massages are a perk for Top Bananas! They are available at 1 minute increments, $1 a minute. On Saturday, massages will be held inside the Hilton Daytona Beach and on Sunday at the finish line in Ponte Vedra.

When do I turn in my minimum pledge? The pledge deadline is when you check-in.  EACH CYCLIST MUST RAISE A MINIMUM OF $200 (IN ADDITION TO THEIR REGISTRATION FEE) BEFORE CHECK-IN TO PARTICIPATE IN BIKE MS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

What is a TOP BANANA? Top Bananas are the VIPS of Bike MS! To be a Top Banana you must raise $1,000 in pledges. As a Top Banana you will receive various perks throughout the ride and a Top Banana Jersey! Click here for more information about the perks of being a Top Banana!

What time does the One Way, One Day Shuttle leave? The shuttle from Daytona leaves at 4pm and is $15. September 5th is the cut-off date for shuttle reservations. However, there will be a waiting list at the customer service table inside the Hilton Daytona Beach. The fee for the shuttle once selected from the waiting list is $20. Bikes will be loaded on to a truck and taken back when the shuttle leaves. All moveable pieces on the bike must be taken off.  

Where is the 150K start? Marineland

When does registration open on Saturday of the ride? The 150 Mile and 150K registration time opens at 6am.

What time does the ride start? The 150 Mile starts at 7:15 am. The 150K at 7:30 am on Saturday. Everyone starts at 7:15am on Sunday. 

When do the rest stops close?
The last rest stop closes at 3:30 pm. The route CLOSES PROMPTLY at 5 pm both days. If you are still on the route you MUST be picked up and taken to the finish. If you insist on staying on the route, please understand that Bike MS support will NOT be available to you. You are no longer a participant of Bike MS and no longer the responsibility of the National MS Society. Your rider number will be taken if you choose to remain on the route after the closing time.

How do I change my username and/or password?  First, login to the site using your username and password. Once logged in, you will see a link at the top of the page called "Update My Profile." Once you are inside your profile, you will be able to change your contact information, email address, username and password. All changes will be made to your account immediately. Do not sign up again. If Bike MS 2013 does not appear when you log in, please contact the Chapter directly at 904-332-6810.

What is a Personal Page?A personal page is an online promotional tool for your use when asking your friends and family to join your team or sponsor you by making a donation. Once you sign up for an event online, by default, you will have a personal page created for you. You have the option of personalizing this page by going to your bike center. You will be able to customize images, text and the style/color layout of the page. 

By default I have a personal page, do I have to change it? Once you sign up for an event online, by default, you will have a personal page created for you. A compelling personal page attracts and engages supporters. While you can spread the word using customized emails, your personal page can be your own creative expression of your commitment to the MS cause. Customize your page by selecting the layout and style that work best for you. Utilize the elements of text, photo and status indicators to their fullest advantage.

How do I change my personal fundraising goal?First, you will need to login to your Participant Center. On the top ribbon of the home page is the "Progress" page. Click it and then you will see the default $200 goal. Next to "My Goal" you may change your goal amount. Enter your new goal and be sure to save your changes.

How do I change my team name or team goal? Only the team captain has the ability to change the team name or team goal. The team captain will need to login to his/her bike center and click the "My Team Progress" button on the top right. On the Team Progress page, team captains will have the ability to update the team name and goal. 

How can I see who has donated to me? Login to the site using your Username and Password. Go to your Participant Center and click the "Progress" tab. This will allow you to view your donor list and any amounts having been donated. Be sure to always thank those who have donated towards your goal. 

How can I see who is on my team? Login to the site using your Username and Password. Go to your Bike Center and click the "Team Progress" tab; this will allow you to view your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.

 
What is a team message? Simply go to your Bike Center and click the "Update Message to Team" button. This will allow you to make all necessary changes to your team message. 

What is the difference between making my personal page private or public? By default, a personal page is Public, meaning your name will appear in the participant search list, and anyone accessing the site will be able to support you. Setting your personal page to Private means your name will not appear in the participant search list, and only people you personally invite will be able to support you.
